History In The Making: The Mitchell Report

I started to read this, but had to quit. It was too engrossing—and sad. Wow.
I’m relieved that Selig commissioned George J. Mitchell for the investigation. I find Mitchell to be a person of integrity. I hope something good comes of his work.
For the record, I stopped reading after completing the section on the un-cooperativeness of the Player’s Association. Pathetic.

History Resource Spotlight: Film & HistorySometime back my wife brought to my attention an online resource, Film & History. This site is rooted in the print journal with the same title. That publication came out of the work of the Historians Film Committee, founded by John E. O'Connor and Martin A. Jackson in 1970. The history of this effort is located here.
While this resource might be old news to some, what impressed me most about the
Chicago’s Great Books School, Shimer College: A Status Report, Commentary, And SuggestionsIn October 2006 and January of this year, I reflected here on Chicago's own great books school, Shimer College. For both posts I was interested, perhaps even concerned, about the college's move from Waukegan to the Illinois Institute of Technology's Chicago campus.
